I received a phone call from this number today at work. They stated they were from Telus and wanted to know about our cell phones and who our provider was. When I stated we have a local provider and that the manager wasn' t in today they got flustered and hung up. Guess they didn't do their homework. Same loud boiler noises in the background, bad connection, very delayed in responding, and strong Asian accent.
Foreign-sounded caller identifying himself as "Jacob" with typical boiler room noise in the background and a bad VOIP connection said he was calling from "Ontario Mortgage" and wanted to help us with our mortgage. (We don't have one.) When pressed about where he was located he hung up.
PS - There really needs to be "Scam" added to the Call Type in the submission form.
Called today. I made the mistake of answering. Female voice with accent from 'Ontario Mortgage (so it sounds official)'. I told her she was breaking the law by calling me as my number is on the DNC list - her response: "oh, I have no record of you being on the do not call list". She hung up when I mentioned breaking the law again.
This is a classical case of outsourced telemarketing from India. Its an South Asian accent and a woman's voice. I could even overhear other people speaking in South Asian language so it has to be an offshore telemarketer.
