My mother received call from this number. Caller was asking for Mr or Mrs of the listed name. Asking many questions no answers given. Seems as though they are trying to sell something. Company name was something like Canada Energy.
We received a call from the same number. They said they were from the Ontario Power Authority I believe. They got our name wrong too. The guy calling said they would be in our area tomorrow and that they needed to get into our house and look at our washer and dryer etc. so that they could figure out if we were eligible for some kind of government rebate for energy efficient homes or appliances. Sounded like crap.... Pretty scary stuff if this is a fraud scam and or if these guys are scoping homes to find people to attack or to figure out which homes are best to rob.
Just had a call from this number. He talked very quickly and I didn't pick up the company name. He said he would be in my area tomorrow and wanted just 20 mins of my time to check on our furnace etc. Very slick talker, kept asking if I was the registered home owner and quoting my name and address details to me. I told him I have my furnace/air conditioner serviced every year by another company and he said this was not to service but to assess energy usage of our equipment. I asked him to tell me who he was and from which company. He said Ontario Eco Smart which he said was a government program and the inspection was completely free! He pushed hard to try to get me to agree to have someone come by. I said I didn't want to set anything up until I had checked out this company as there are so many scammers out there. He hung up!
Checked them out on google and they appear to be a home services company out of Toronto. I think this is just their form of tele-marketing - someone should tell them all they're doing is hurting their company image with these calls made by rude/slick telemarketers.
