Julie; My wife and I recieved the same letter. I too noticed the misspelling of the of the Wells Fargo branch in "Van West," OH. The town is actually Van Wert, OH. I contacted Wells Fargo Bank to further inquire about the validity of the "check". The person with whom I spoke assured me that with the information I gave them, they were forwarding it to their security/investigative department.
For anyone who did fall for this scam and indeed cash this "check", just remember: T H E R E A R E N O F R E E L U N C H E S !!!
this number was on a letter i recieved from unique solutions inc. located at 3771 victoria park ave. toronto, ont. m1w 3z5. The check was for 4,815 and when i deposited it it came back counterfit. they closed my bank account and sheila harris is still the claim agent and ryan noble is the claim agent.
I also received a letter with this number which had a check enclosed supposedly for secret shopper assignment. I was suspicious and began researching the number when I could not get the company on google. I'm still looking further to determine what is really going on.

we recieved a letter from excellence personnel inc. with a $3,000 dollar check. we looked up the company on the net - no such. also the wells fargo bank was wrong address no such town as van west, oh. we are contacting the city attnorney and better business bureau. thanks for heads up.

I GOT THE SECRET SHOPPER CHECK TOO. UNITED BANK IN CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA SAID IT WAS A SCAM. THAT IS THE BANK THAT WAS ON MY CHECK, SO I CALLED TO VERIFY THE CHECK.
