Caller said he was David Watson and that we had won $80,000.00 dollars in Canada. Needed to sent money to a Bank of America account. Called back said there was a mistake and it was really $800,000.00 and need money to cover the transfer fees into the US. Play along stated that we did not have that kind of money. They offered to help finance what we could not cover. Recieved another caller who said he was from the US Customs wearhouse and was with for David Watson to help transfer. I asked if he was a US Goverment agent?. He stated he was I asked for his ID number and what training center he went to. Told me he did not have to give that info. Hung up when I informed him as a retired US Justice Dept employee he was required to supply this information along with his supervisor name.

Caller from Customs Clearing Warehouse at LAX have withheld a letter containing a check will hold for another 48 hours before the 90-day hold expires. Information on the check is to contact Watson and Associates at the number listed and to reference file # 2137. Called the number and left a message.
Mr. David Watson called back the next morning informing me that the check was for a winning of $80,000 in a Publishers Clearing House Readers Digest sweepstakes. Needed to pay $4000 for the customs' tax so that the check can be received via FedEx the next day from the US Customs Clearing Warehouse. I don't have a $1000 to pay and he asked to see if I can arrange to withdraw money from a credit card while his company will cover the remainder for a $185 retainer fee to hire his firm to take care of the transactions because US Customs do not deal directly with the public.
