Looks like I am the first to inquire about this phone number. If anyone has any insight, please share.

Well, shortly after returning from filing my US tax return (FIRPTA) last week, I first noticed that this number called. A quick check suggested a number that seemed to be related to some sort of long-distance service offering.

I would have thought nothing of it, but I noticed this same number has called several times since last week. Each time, no message was left on the machine.

The latest call from this number came around mid-day today, a day in which my aunts, uncles and little cousins all converged to help prepare a special dinner for our Easter week (I am Euro Orthodox, the calendar date is different from the traditional English celebration of Easter). I am told it was quite the spectacle by the backyard BBQ rotisserie, but I digress.

This is why I ask. I incorrectly addressed a package that was sent to Budapest, Hungary and I am expecting that to be returned to me by the courier sometime this week. Due to recurrence, I am left to wonder if this number is somehow related to that?

Anyone else receive a call from this number? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The package I sent my aunt in Hungary for Easter, just arrived this Saturday morning. A few days late, and many phone calls later, but it is here, and that is much to the relief of my entire family.

Conversely, the calls from this number appear to have stopped since I spoke to the courier again on
Wednesday night for an update, so I am relatively certain this number was somehow related to the courier delay regarding parcel-delivery terms promised to me and it was not telemarketing related. It also appears nobody else seemed to have received the call by all appearances, further indicating this was not telemarketing related.

Perhaps the aforementioned long-distance service was used as a Canadian node in completing the digital-overseas link in a means for the international courier to try contact me? I have seen something similar before. That is my guess.

Sorry to have taken up the pixels on this number in that case.

A wish, Sreken Veligden, as we say, to those bloggers, if any, that have even bothered to read this.

416-848-8882: I have received three calls in the past two weeks, all of which were Incoming at about 7:30PM - 8PM.  Each time, as soon as I said 'Hello' the call was terminated ... nothing is ever said (other than my 'hello')

These calls are arriving on my cell phone, a number which is only given to prospective clients (I'm a carpenter) and friends ... so no 'stranger' access to any sort of 'directory').

Two days ago I received another of these calls at 7:38PM ... drives me 'crazy' when stuff like that happens, especially when it happens over and over again.

I thought it was the cell service dropping calls from prospective customers so I drove to the cell service depot to complain.

Cell service sent me to their tech department to have my phone checked ... my phone checked out as being in excellent condition; the problem is/was not with my phone 'dropping' the calls.

So, to help me try to deal with the matter, the cell service gifted me with three months of call display.

Last night a call came in while I was busy; voicemail recorded only a brief silence, then the usual 'hang up' ...

Call Display captured the number for the Call List: 416-848-8882

I tried www.Canada411.com with no luck.

Typed the phone number into the www.dogpile.com Search and came up with the information that this number is the 'call us' number for the Toronto offices of Challenger Long Distance, which has head office in Kitchener-Waterloo (519-489-4459).

Challenger is doing some seriously 'low budget' stuff, like using Puerto Rico and Bulgaria for outsourcing ...

Oh yeah, and Dogpile also listed this website and the comment from 'Canadian Musings' ... so I'm just putting in my two cents worth of experience: 'Canadian Musings' is not alone here.
