It's a scam. This number calls and states that they are working on behalf of Microsoft. They then ask if they can do a virus scan on your computer. If you agree, they make you download a program called LogMeIn, which is similar to Remote Assistant, expect you do not need future authorization to log back in. They disable all your security settings on your computer to make sure its easily accessed again. If you don't agree they try to sell you anti-virus protection and demand your credit card information, which they later on steal and charge hundreds of dollars. Do not answer or take their calls. I called the bank and they told me that this scam is on rise at the moment.

I got a call from the same number today. The minute I picked up the phone, they told me that my computer was hacked by someone. The reason I became suspicious was that I actually had three computers at home (each family member had one). I asked him which company he was from. He did not answer but simply urged me to boot my computer and he would help me to solve this problem "right in front of my eyes" (quote from his words). I told him I would not do that since I was not sure. But I would like to jot down his number and his name, I told him I would consul my friend. If it is true, I would like to call back. The name he gave me was : Mac William.

I got the same call today. The guy, he called himself Mac (Matt) Williams, said they are a "Windows company" operating on behalf of Microsoft, and they are receiving suspicious messages sent from my computer. I knew it was scam because I don't have Windows PC at home. I asked them what is my Windows licence number and they told me complete [***] which wasn't even in the correct format. There was also a second guy, he called himself Richard Walter, who tried to convince me to turn on my PC for inspection. Don't believe them. They are scammers. I encourage you to report a fraud at www.antifraudcentre.ca. Scammers must be stopped.

I finally ended the conversation with asking her name and number and that i would call her back... she was hesitent in giving the the number like she didnt know her companys number. her name was Jenn.
