Some further digging reveals that the carrier for this number (Level 3 Communications, LLC) is a VoIP provider NOT a cellular or land line phone company. There is a WIDESPREAD SCAM going on at the moment using VoIP technology to mimic local or USA based calls. I have received these calls from two different numbers in Missouri and Arizona now. I do NOT answer!
From other reports, the callers are foreign and sound like they are from India and (some calls have been traced back to India) they will curse and threaten you with collections that you do not owe. They threaten subpoenas, sheriff arrests, lawyers, etc...and always with a short time limit, usually 2 hours, to pay up or else they will send the sheriff to arrest you.
They WILL continue to call you especially if you answer! Some people have reported that these people have personal information like name, home and business phone numbers, even SSN's so it is currently suspected that they have acquired information via online registrations, banking or some other service that has been compromised via hacking. If you ignore them and take steps to update your information on websites- not just ones you commonly use- then this may help. You should be doing this anyway. The WWW is NOT a place to be complacent. NEVER use the same password twice, include random capital letters, numbers and symbols. Keep a Rolodex or password logbook to keep it all straight. Change them every few months.
REPORT THE CALLS to the Do Not Call registry- state and federal. They will only do something if thousands of reports come in on these numbers.

Repeat calls to my home from this number and they never leave a message. Annoying. It is a cell phone from Blue Eye, MO not Springfield, MO as stated above. Don't know anyone from there myself.
