These [***] keep calling me, too, different numbers, of course, and the "Do Not Call" registry is completely powerless to stop it. I've been doing some reading about these schemes and the real profit for these scammers is not in plucking out the one fool in a hundred thousand who might be duped into providing actual credit card information (anyone that dumb probably doesn't have great credit anyway), but instead the real potential for making money lies in the sheer volume of calls made. I don't claim to understand it completely, but apparently they set up dubious telecom companies, and there is some kind of fee they collect, small fractions of cents, I think it is, for each time their caller ID information is displayed. I'm not sure how all of this works, but I think a person or an answering machine has to pick up the line in order for them to collect any of those minuscule fees, so that explains why they keep calling and calling and calling. It's infuriating and these leeches need to be stopped!
called 12/20 @ 3:40 pm. recorded message about lowering my credit card rates. 'This is your second and final call! Press 1 now to take action before the next billing cycle!' I pressed 1, a woman asked if I was responding to lower my credit card rates, I said no I wanted them to stop calling. That asshat hung up loudly.
Same message about lowering my credit card rate and this was my final notice. I pressed 1 and told the person I was sick and tired of their calls and to go to Hell. These people have probably called me over 100 times in the last six months. Reporting them to the FCC does no good as they keep calling back on another number. The Government needs to put this scam artists out of business.
I get these calls almost daily, the displayed phone number is always different, but it's the same call. I believe they are con artists whose only goal is to get your personal information & credit card information. Always the same message "this is your final warning ..." Once I asked them who they were, they hung up on me. A couple of times I swore a blue streak at them and told them to stop calling me. They continue to call. I don't know why it's so hard to stop these creeps who do this. I'm on the do not call list, they are violating the law just by calling me.
MIGHT AS WELL GIVE UP ON THE "DO (not) CALL" LIST. IT SEEMS LIKE THE ONLY THING OUR PATHETIC GOVT. CAN DO IS TAX AND SPEND. SEEMS LIKE THE ONLY REASON FOR SOMEONE TO BE A POLITICIAN IS FOR PERSONAL GAIN, AND NOTHING ELSE. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. THEIR POCKETS ARE LINED BY BIG BUSINESS, SO WHY WOULD THEY CARE ABOUT THE GENERAL PUBLIC. WE MIGHT AS WELL FACE THE FACT THAT THESE CALLS WILL NEVER STOP AS LONG AS THERE ARE CROOKED POLITICIANS IN THE GOVT!!!!!
