Received from an RPO (Recruitment Process Outsource) representative. His name was Phill and was extremely profesional. I expected a call from GOODYEAR and this group has been retained to assist in the hiring process. Well done. See: http://www.rightthinginc.com/mcrti/RTI.home
I just got a phone call from this phone number. They say they are Lane Ltd. and called because I applied for a job online (which is true). As soon as I hung up the telephone, I received an email from them saying that I have been moved to the next step in the hiring process which includes clicking on a link and completing an employment application. Once I am to the application, it asks me for my social security number. I am NOT going to give that information when they have only talked with me on the telephone. They claim they need my SSN in order to do a background check since we are at the next step in the hiring process.
It smells like a scam to me. I hate to give up a job, but I will not give out my SSN at this stage of the hiring process.
This is an outsource company, they do the initial screening and processing for applicants to bigger cooperation. I applied to Goodyear Dunlop Tires 3 months ago. They just called me today, and I start a new job in about 2 weeks which I am investing $30,000 into. I'm pissed, I wish they had called me before I made this investment, they said on their website it would take a few weeks before I was contacted, NOT 3 MONTHS!? I'm livid right now, I really wanted that job, but my money is invested in this new job now.
Sigh, anyways, if you get a call from this #, chances are you applied somewhere and you are just now being contacted. ANSWER IT and see what they are calling for, if it's somewhere you applied to, speak with the person! If you need a job, speak with the person! If you have a job or don't care, tell them you are no longer interested and that's that!
