SCAM.  Received a call from this Toledo, *Ohio* number, claiming to be the disconnection department for a utility company located in Southern *California*.  They claimed my utility bill was past due and that my service was about to be disconnected - I'm sure they wanted to get me to give them my credit card information.  I played along.  The amount they claimed I owed would be about 8 months worth of utility bills (guess this scammy loser from Toledo didn't get the memo about energy-efficient Californians).  I pointed out that I likely would have received prior notification if my bill was 8 months past due.  I also pointed out and that my bank website shows that the autobills have been processed.  He kind of muttered, "Oh, that's funny, it's a mistake in our system, it's a different address down the street."  

I had to go, so I hung up, but decided to look into the matter this evening.  When I attempted to call them back, a recorded message said it was the "Disconnection Department for J. Martinez."  I left a message saying that I'm a lawyer (true), that I'm certain fairly this is a scam (true), that I intend to take all appropriate legal steps against them (true) and that I hope they have a nice day (not so true).
