Got an almost ununderstandable message from someone named Derick who said they were calling from Citibank fraud department and it was urgent and to call back this number or the 866-356-1069. I immediately called the number on the back of my card instead. They had no record of calling us and said that it was a fishing scam.

It is a LEGIT call. Yes it's from Derek Lane (I think that's last name). It's part of Citi cards fraud department investigation. If you had a fraud on your card or fraud is suspected, Citi assigns you a person to do further investigation.

Even though the number in this thread might belong to your card issuer, the scammers can easily spoof what appears on your CallerID, and attempt to get your precious ID and card data!
