1) Do Not Call lists only make them want to/call more. They never work. Keep reading these posts & you'll agree with me that there's a strong argument that these outhouse refugees call a number more if it's on one.

2) Don't answer the call in the first place. If you answer you register your number as a real live working telephone number. They just see fresh meat, ready for the kill, and call more.

3) If you MUST or do answer: A) it's more than OK to just hang up. There is no one honest on the other end, and they certainly don't have the least iota of consideration for human beings. I see no reason why we should have any consideration for them. B) There are so many tactics on this site for the more mischievous with time on their hands to do that it's mind boggling. Keep reading these posts. You'll learn about them. C) If you can't make a scene, and you can send the call to something like another line (which of course no one answers) do that. It's called "indefinite hold". Another version of this tactic is to hand the phone to a 3 year old but beware, some of these losers use unrepeatable language the child might learn.

If you answered, and you're on your cell phone, remember #1 above, which also applies to whatever so-called option they offer you to press or do if you don't want them to call again. Better: Save the number as "Scam", then you'll be able to see the name on the CID and of course you won't answer it again.

They are rarely if ever actually IN this country, so if they were caught, there would be nothing anyone here could do about it. There is a ring working out of Athens GA, and they were caught but now they're out and so of course they're on the prowl again as I knew they would be. They are the exception, but I believe someone in the Northwest GA/Chattanooga/Cleveland TN area has started in. I know several months ago a local resident got her phone number hijacked so their calls showed up with her name on the CID. We called her back, and actually got her, and she told us that. She also said she had the police on the case. I guess she must have got some resolution because the calls stopped after that. My point is, if you don't recognize the number, don't answer, even if it's local or semi-local.

I also recommend a $33 set of cordless phones by VTech that Wal-Mart sells. They allow you to block quite a few numbers though it still rings once when blocked. Keep reading these posts and you'll find out there is more sophisticated technology available for this purpose, but I like these phones.

These are preventative measures, but they're all we have right now, and as they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Here's hoping for more peaceful, quieter, ring-free days ahead.

Don't be shocked if/when that doesn't do a whit of good. They field so many complaints that they don't have time for all of them. Being on the Do Not Call list makes them want to call more! And I believe our government is too tied up paying for the pork in the bills that this is not even on their to do list.

That is assuming you have student loans in the first place. It's a dead giveaway when they call about something that doesn't even apply to you. (There are better more efficient ways to help your student loans than anything you'd get a call like this about.)

I receive two to three phone calls from this number every day. Sometimes ID states customer service, sometimes they use a different number. This is so annoying. I know it is a "security company". I would never do business with a company like this.I do not answer, Will they ever give up.
