Same story as above. Called me on 8/31/2011 at 3:30 PM in Ok. City, said they were "Publishers" and that I had won a $1000.00 gift certificate. The guy said, in a very sexy voice, that he had good news and bad news for me. Good news was that I had won and the bad news was that he did not get the chance to speak with me. HOW CHEESY! I deleted message IMMEDIATELY! DO NOT FALL FOR THESE CROOKS!!!!!
It was an obvious scam from the beginning. They told me I won $1,000 shopping spree and a magazine subscription. They said all I had to pay was $3.50 for shipping and handling. After this country, polite woman gets finished verifying my age and occupation, she puts me on hold to get her supervisor. Also, she informs me that her performance might get evaluated so to put in a good word. I felt like it was a scam and was prepared not to give any credit card #'s or bank account #'s. I passed the phone to my husband and they hung up immediately. So I Googled the number and it turns out that they've tried to scam people before. Watch out for this # and don't be fooled. Oh, also they claimed to be a Publisher's company and got my number from a website I visited but didn't specify so beware.
Same story. They claimed to be "Publishers" and that I won a $1000 online gift cert, blah blah blah, all via voicemail since I don't answer unrecognized numbers on MY CELL PHONE. I'm in the process of reporting them to the feds, since my cell number is on the national do not call list.
