The caller indentified himself as a representative of Microsoft and told me that there were some issues his company was wanting to help me clear up on my computer. He asked me if I was sitting in front of my computer. When I told I was not, he asked me to goto my computer. I ended the call at that time.
Same thing to report as Robin. Caller identified themself as working for "windows" and were trying to tell me there was something wrong with my computer. A computer infection that antivirus software could not detect and that for a one time fee they would resolve my issues on any computers I had in my house. When I told him there was nothing wrong with my computer he told me my hard drive was corrupt and could crash at any time. I told him that short of it giving me the click of death, there was no information I couldn't pull from my hard drive even if my computer did crash. At this point he started to stammer, and I questioned him further "How would Microsoft ever even get this phone number to contact me?" "Uh, uh" was the response I got back. I said that I had never registered this phone number with any microsoft acct. All I got was silence on the other end of the line. I told him nice try though and then I hung up. THIS HAS TO BE SCAMMERS. WATCH OUT FOR THIS NUMBER CALLING YOU.
