It is a hoax. The IRS will send a certified letter in the mail regarding any pending action. You will never receive a phone call of that nature from the IRS.
Over a period of time we've received many calls from these people and never thought much about them. Got a call this A.M. and was in the mood for some fun and returned the call. Naturally a man with a heavy middle eastern accent answered with the usual threatened lawsuit. I listened to his scam, asked him questions, pretended to have knowledge of what he was talking about, (owing $6800.00 to the IRS for 2015) and asked him how this could be resolved. He transferred me to the "Senior" agent and listened to his scam. Highly amusing! So before asking him how stupid did he think I was, managed to waste 15 minutes of these idiots time. would recommend that any who is bored to do the same thing.. Good fun!!!
I also got a call several times today. They left a message and it did sound like the beginning was cut off leaving just a call back number. I called back and Don Fox answered my call.
It's a scam. Indian accent. I owe the IRS nothing. Plus the IRS doesn't call you on the phone. I called them and cussed them multiple times. They quit answering.
