Yes, it's a scam trying to scare you into giving away your details. Always interesting to see if they have any new twists each time they call. Usually they have been live people, but this time it's a recording which looped three times. Here's the voicemail I just uploaded. He says his name is (cough cough) "Steve Martin " ! Many scammers fake the phone number you see on your Caller ID.
In those cases, when you call them back, you are really calling some innocent person.
Such calls merely make the wrong people angry, and make them think YOU are the scammer!
Strongly suggest people do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!
I got a call from 424-074-4830 telling me to call 424-704-4830, as described above.
Steve Martin is an actor and comedian. The accent that Steve Martin, the actor, uses in his comedy routines is way different than the accent that the man calling me had.
If you want to speak with the real Steve Martin, this will not be his number.
I didn't think the message was very funny, so I didn't call the number they gave me.
