Say they are from Waste Management and want to do survey about services they provide. Our company does use them but I HATE that they can't bother to have the company's name on caller ID.
Caller ID said Hawthorne, California. I don't answer calls that have a city and state! Too much trouble. This time, I picked up and a man asked for my husband. I told him in Spanish that I didn't speak English. Gets us off the hook all the time. The return call said they were Merritt (spelling) Research in Hawthorne, California, doing legitimate marketing research with no sales. It is within the law to do this, but these days, I do no surveys because of piracy issues. Supposedly, you can call another number and be taking off their list. If they call again, I might do that, but it has its limits. Sometimes the company skims the phone numbers and sells them to others. It's endless!
Caller ID says Los Angeles, CA. They've been calling a lot during office hours. Not allowed to use cell phones during work hours and they don't leave a message.
