A man called named James Davis with a heavy Indian accent. He said he was from the Department Justice not department of justice. He told me I had 3 fraud charges against me and I needed to give hi
my criminal lawyer fax number, if I didn't have one they would appoint one for me. He reads the charges which was about a payday loan from Cash Advance USA. I never had a payday loan from that company so watch out for these people now they're trying to use a goverment agency to scare you into giving them money.
I received a phone call from the same guy telling me the same thing except the loan was with payday usa and that he was from california and that i had three fraud charges against me and that i owed 8000.00 dollars to him that was with interest with a 300.00 loan i never got or applied for and that they were filing charges if i didn't agree as soon as i said i was getting cops involved he hung up on me. He had my social security number and old bank account and everything and said that he had it from all downloaded from the internet. The cops are handling it now. also stated he was with department justice. Please beware of this guy.
I too received a call from this guy and the thing is I am a collector. For being with a said 'Goverment agency' he violates the fdcpa law and hippa as well. This guys need to be stopped. Remember folks they have to send a letter in writting notifying you of the debt.
Same thing, only this guy called me at work, had my email, my bank account, my social, my dl number, my birthdate, told me his name was James Davis, - heavy indian accent, said he was with American Legal Services Representing Cash Advance for a loan that now has a total of 873.76 but would settle for a cash payment (over the phone with my Credit card) with 723.26. He also threatened to call my employer to put in for garnishment and THEN take me to court (which they can't do) I told him if I would definately discuss the issue but that if he called my employer or my work again I would press harrassment charges on him. He hung up and then called me back saying he won't and never intended on contacting my employer but that we need to pay the debt or they will take us to court. [***]! I'm reporting him.
