Left an automated message at 7:20am with nothing about IRS. Call back, there's a thick accent claiming he is from Internal Revenue Service and needs to verify my name. Tell him no and hang up, receive a call right back from an Egypt number with the same person asking me to verify my identity. BS.
Repeated calls saying they are with the IRS and we are being audited. When I challenged they told me to get a criminal attorney. Who needs added stress? Not me.
They were threatening a lawsuit and jail time. This is NOT how the IRS does business if you have a mistake on your taxes. Total scam, don't even call them back. p.s. the call I got was from 424-392-xxxx and this thread was already started.
