Addendum: In looking at the top, I can see that the area code the caller used looks like California. She said she was in Canada. So there is a discrepancy and it was probably spoofed. Probably a very odd scammer with a strange, very unusual pitch. Don't answer, and certainly if you do, don't give away any personal information.
i don't know why I answered this long distance-looking call, I usually ignore CID numbers like this, but I did speak with the caller because 800notes had no complaints about it. She claimed to be giving away free animal medical equipment. I don't know if it's true or not. She didn't want to really discuss anything with me that I wanted to say or ask about how they can afford this, what their true motivation is, and so on. There's no longer any such thing as a free lunch, in my humble opinion. She mentioned a brand name for the equipment but I didn't write it down. She said they found my name online, when I asked how they found me. When I queried why they would be giving away medical equipment for free, to strangers, she said they were Canadian, and inferred they were therefore altruistic... I commented that there is no such thing any more, that I didn't need equipment, and that the Canadians may be politically neutral but they are also the second-biggest arms dealer in the world... That's when she smoothly terminated the call. Since there were no comments here, I thought I should at least make an entry for others to see. She had no accent, said nothing vulgar. But I've been around the block a few times, and whatever was still naive in me has (sadly) been destroyed by all the scam calls, junk mail, global violence and fear, scam emails and frightening news we all get. It used to be that you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth; nowadays, one has to presume it's going to be a Trojan horse. Isn't that sad. I really miss Camelot.
