Total SCAM!!! Left VM saying they were the IRS and if we didn't contact them immediately, legal action would be taken against us. In good faith (wrong...!) I called them back. A guy with a very thick accent answered and said what's your name. I said "nope" you don't get my name I'll give you the number but that's it. He got upset and said my name and asked me to confirm it was me. I said maybe/maybe not first what's this about. He got pissed and said he is not going to stay on the line for a maybe so, I said what is your IRS operator or employee number to validate this call is not a scam. And of course, he hung up! Be warned, this is a SCAM and they are Mean too! Good luck to you all, I suggest block the number. 1-424-738-0673 location came up as Avalon Ca
I just got this call... From reading what the others have said its an obvious SCAM. IRS sends letters they dont call and leave broke voicemails. If it where the IRS they would leave a LEGIT message, name and phone number of contact number. Im blocking it .. SCAMMERS!
Best thing you can do is to keep written notation of each number with area code being used along with time and dates calls were recieved. If possible, to save voicemail messages and to make recordings of messages if you are able.
Also, if you are able to actually speak to someone, ask for an ID number...as an actual IRS person will give an ID number when you call the IRS. Be sure to write down or record everything.
Also if you record the conversation, be sure you tell the person you speak to that the call is being recorded.
Then call the REAL IRS and offer to them all information aquired.
