Electronically recorded call from a foreign-accented male voice, saying he is Officer Michael Thomas, demanding that my attorney or I call him back, with threaten of legal action if I don't return the call. I set it up as blocked call, and a call came in again leaving the same message on voicemail.
Clearly a scam. Do these idiots really believe the American public is likely to accept calls purportedly from the IRS by people with recorded foreign voices?
A recorded message call me at 2:35 pm on tuesday september 27th, 2016. They said they were the irs and that i needed to contact them immediately and should not disregard the call. I must call them back. I called back and got a funny ring. Irs sends notices and i do not owe any money. Scam..............Beware...................
they called and said they were IRS and told me i owed money. they told me if i don't send at least $2,900 by tonight, i'd be arrested, have to pay $45,000 and pay for a criminal lawyer. its a scam. I asked him to give my social security number to make sure he had the right person however he said he couldn't "share that personal information" he continued to tell me not hangup. all he was able to give me was my email. this is a lie, complete scam, when i called him back he answered, i tried to speak to him and basically curse him out but he hung up on me. BEWARE
The IRS does not initiate contact via a phone call, they first send postal letters.
The IRS does not threaten arrest.
The IRS does not demand immediate payment over the phone.
The IRS does not ask for Credit card, Debit card, or prepaid money card information, at all.
It is a scam ran by offshore criminals attempting to trick you into sending them money.
