You are 100% correct. Not all scams are quick. Some scams involve getting as much information over time as they can. A little here, a birthday there, a nickname here. . . it all adds up. Then the 'closer' calls. The scam artists who knows how to really put the pressure on for the extortion racket. NEVER give out personal/financial information out on a call you did not make, look up, or verified.
Has been calling for a couple days at strange times. 5:24am this morning. Bellevue. I live south in the same time zone. No one should call anyone at that time. Never leaves a message.
Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent who wanted to confirm my personal details. Line kept fading in and out..I made her phone back twice and then took my phone off the hook. Call appears to originate out of Liechtenstein.
"April Adams" with an Asian accent wanted to talk to a specific Marketing manager, claiming they'd spoken previously. She identified her company as Technology Research Assets, which is a known sales pest around here (have seen that name connected with other numbers on this website). Fortunately, he wasn't available, but she preferred to call back later, rather than leave a number. Her definition of "later" was brief, and this time, I told her off.
