They have been calling me for 9 months on and off. They must be slow because I have been receiving two calls per day most recently. They call and leave threatening messages. I assume this is an old debt (over 20 years) that they are calling about from my mom. They will not give up. I have told them to proceed forward with their next step because I will not be sending them money nor will I ever! The problem is they font have a next step, all they can do is call and harrass you. I think the statue of limitations has kicked in and she is not legally responsible for this. My mom is an old women on her death bed at this point but they will not stop calling. I know it's them when it shows up on caller ID and don't answer anymore. I don't know how to get them to stop.
I keep getting phone calls from this number asking for a certain person that does not live here. I told them to take my name off ,and they said since they don't have a number for them they will keep calling me. Can they legally do this. I don't know this person and they call every two weeks!!!
No, they cannot. Let them know the next time they call you intent to file suit against them for intentionally harassing a non-debtor and violating privacy laws under the FDCPA and TCPA.
