I got a text message from this number today that says "Your entry last month has WON!" It gives me a link to a website and says go there and enter a code to claim my $1000 Best Buy card.
I don't remember entering anything, and rarely hand out my cell number.
I tried entering the web address on my laptop and got an message saying it's not a real website. I clicked the link on my phone and that's where the biggest red flag went off. It's a page for me to enter my code, but the title says, "You're Best Buy card." Poor grammar. Biggest "tell" in any internet scam. There's a link for "unsubscribing" but I didn't enter my number there again. Just deleted message.

Scam: I got a text message from this number yesterday that says "Your entry last month has WON!" It gives me a link to a website and says go there and enter a code to claim my $1000 Best Buy card. I received the same text hours later from another number. I have no idea how they got my number.
I got a text from this number as well as 202-538-2832, about winning a Bestbuy Gift Card. I immediately figured that it was a hoax. Why would you text and not call? Duh!!!! The man's name with the 425 # on the answering machine said Dan Henry. I sent a text back and requested more information; no response from either #.
