Yet another spoofed/improperly displayed phone number from overseas. The number called my DNC listed landline yesterday - Super Bowl Sunday, mind you! - at 1713 hours. A man with an Indian accent began telling me he was from the "Windows Service Department" and that they had a report that my computer was... I cut him off by telling him what he could do with himself and slammed the phone back down. The "Windows Virus" scammers have been coming out of the woodwork recently. They've been calling at least once a week, though most of the time they call from a previously blocked phone number so their calls only get in one or two rings before being automatically disconnected.
Same call received today. I asked the man for his name and phone number so that I could report him to my attorney. He said his name was Jack Matthew and his number was 847-412-4688. I thanked him and asked him how I could help him, and he promptly hung up.
Received a call from 425-396-5311 caller ID indicates WASHINGTON CALL. The man said he was from the Windows Technical Department and there was something wrong with my computer and that i needed to log on immediately and give them info.... I asked to speak to a supervisor so they connected me to someone else, to "walk me through" giving them my IP address... I told them basically that they should be ashamed of themselves and not to continue on with this charade and hung up on them.
