I too got a call from this number and it was listed as INTL. NUMBER on my caller ID. I thought this was a bit odd because it is from my area code in WA State. When I tried to call back the number, there was a message that the number was not receiving calls at this time. Wouldn't it stand to reason that if the person or business that was calling me didn't want me to call them on a Sunday afternoon, i.e.; "not receiving calls at this time", that I too would expect the same in return? At the very least they should accept my unsolicited call back to them so that I might have the pleasure of selling them something they don't need or want.......
WARNING BANK FRAUD - 3/7/09 Rec'd call from definitely India man, with many in background, who claimed to be Fraud Recovery, stating I was entitled to $349.00 which he claimed was taken from our bank account. He went through the sing-song of my name, address, last 4 digets of my Soc. Sec. #, birthdate & year, and then gave me our bank name, and router number of A CLOSED BANK ACCOUNT, which was closed due to identity theft. He told me to look on bank statement or check to verify number & if not same to give him router on bottom of check. Sure, might be 72 years old, but not dumb. I told him that it wasn't the same but that he could deposit the $349 into that number he gave me. Then he said he'd have to have his supervisor speak with me. I called my bank on my cell phone, while he was talking to 'supervisor'. Many voices of India in background, and then his supervisor, also India - came on saying he was JACK SMITH [sure!] and was it all right to record the call. I said yes, knowing this was to gain my confidence. Remember, I had the bank on my cell phone & told him I was speaking with someone on my cell phone as he gave me the ritual need for correct router number. I told him finally that I was speaking to the BANK MANAGER, who said it was perfectly all right to deposit the funds into the old account, as they would in turn transfer it into our new account. He said they could not do that, but needed new number. Then I said what my bank manager told me to say: Just send me a cashier's check in that amount to my address which you've already let me know you have correct. He said that they were only permitted to do bank to bank transactions. So, I said: then just deposit it into the old bank account & I'll receive it. I said: I told you I am on the cell phone with my bank manager. He HUNG UP!
