I met a girl on OK Cupid claiming to be abroad in Johannesburg, South Africa. She gave me this number and said she was doing her externship for zoology there, and that her name was Matilda "Matty" Tope. She said her parents died around the same time - one from cancer and another from a car wreck. She said she couldn't Skype or Google chat until she came back to the US on Sept. 28. She ignored requests to talk on the phone or just changed the subject when i brought it up. She sent me a few pictures, and we texted back and forth for 10-12 days. All of a sudden this weekend, she asked me for money because she needed it for living expenses, etc. When I said I couldn't do that, she asked me to open a bank account in my name so she could put in her inheritance money. This sounds like some sort of Manti Te'o type scam. I was skeptical the entire time. She proceeded to block my number when i pointed out this sounded like a scam. What is your story, Bob?

Smells like a scam...awful. In these days of the world wide web, why can't she open an account in her name by going to the bank's (of her) choice website? I'd stay away from this one. She blocked your number because she's moved on to the next potential victim and does not want to confuse her incoming calls.
