I received a call at 7:30am from this same number from Virginia 434-922-7255. The gentleman with a thick accent said he was from Microsoft and he was calling because of my problem with my computer. I told him I was sick and tired of these types of calls and to remove me from his call list.
Called my land line twice this morning. Picked up the first time because I didn't have my glasses on and couldn't read the caller ID. Just heard a fragment of recorded speech. Called again an hour or so later. I didn't pick up the second time.
They said they were from Windows and that my computer was hacked and running malware and they were going to fix it. They wanted me to run a file on my computer. When I asked what the malware was so I could have a technician come to my house to fix it because I didn't feel safe having them do it since I've seen news reports of scams, they abruptly ended the call.
Called home. Caller id said Virginia. Stated he was a Windows tech and to listen to him. Said that my computer was infected with malware and they were receiving errors. I have computer knowledge and played with him a little but finally tired of it, told him not to call me again as I would never give him access to my computer.
