The FTC and top communications companies met, to determine what they can do to stop robocalls and other illegal calls. Here is a link to a frequently updated page, showing the history and progress of their initiatives, as well as recent Congressional bills and Industry Implementations.

(I strongly suggest you read the history and progress of
H.R.2669 - Anti-Spoofing Act of 2015
and
S.2558 - Spoofing Prevention Act of 2016
to learn how [slowly] bills progress through our Congressional system, even when there is bilateral agreement that something should be done.)

A young woman called, there was a weird sound before she came on could barely hear her. I said hello a couple of times, she said can you hear me now, I said yes. Then she proceeded to tell my my registry was selected to win a gift card to several local retailers...which she listed. I said I was not interested and I do not give my permission for any of this. And hung up on her. I hope this is not part of the scam going around where they get you to say yes to can you hear me and then use that as your approval. I called the number back and the message was for Research Rewards.
