Called 3 - 4 times, but I missed the call. They Left No voicemail. I finally did catch the call one day. They said (in Eglish I could barely understand) that there was an issue with my computer. I needed to change a password set up, or something.
The reason, they said, was because my computer was in danger. (Scare tactic) I told them that if my computer was in danger, then I would call Microsoft. He told me "Microsoft doesn't have CERTIFIED computer technicians available for customers."(?!?!?) So HE needed to be the one to do it. He kept telling me to get on my computer, and he would walk me through the steps to "fix the 'problem'".
THEN, when I informed him that I personally knew at LEAST 5 CERTIFIED computer technicians that could help me, some of which are family, he proceeded to tell me that they would charge "a lot of money" for the service. I said, "THEY'RE FAMILY!!!"
Anyway...he would give me NO valid reason for WHY I needed to make these "changes" to my computer. BUT he repeatedly used scare tactics. (Your computer is in danger! Hackers can get to your computer! That is very bad..very dangerous! Do you know what that means? It's very bad!)
Any legitimate company does not need to try to scare customers to get their business.
They just called again. I answered this time and they said there was an issue with my computer. I couldn't really understand him due to his strong Indian accent. I lied and told him I used my parents' computer and they asked to speak with one of them. I told them nobody was home and they hung up...
This time I got a call from an unavailable number. It was the same person who called the last time. Again, he was talking about my computer. I spoke French to him and he eventually hung up.
