If you have AT&T voice mail this is the voice mail box number. This is the number AT&T calls from to let you know you have a message. Then when you access your voice mail this is the number it goes to even though you enter *98. Don't know why the phone would ring from that number unless you happened to hang up from a phone call just as someone was leaving a voice message. Hope this helped.
