I received a call saying I had won an iPad for a contest I had entered. I actually had entered a contest, but when I called the number, it said its voice mail has not been set up yet. The text gave me a validation number which, when entered, confirmed that I was eligible. I'll let you know if it is in fact legitimate.
I am among the many who recieved a call from this #. When calling back message said no such # exists. ( oh color me suprised) p.s. I was called at 1:49 am pacific coast time. What is this story? Anybody know?
I got a text message from this number. 'Your latest entry into our contest has made you a winner! Go to [bit.ly URL] to claim your iPad, enter code 9877 to qualify. Claim before 4-25-12'. I have never entered any contest for an iPad or other electronic device. The remarkable thing here is, though, the time they sent the message. They texted me at 2:00 IN THE MORNING! That must break some kind of law. Thank goodness I was awake at the time pulling an all-nighter, if I had been woken up by a stupid spam text I would've been absolutely furious. I feel bad for anyone else who may have been woken up by this, I'm sure they send out texts en masse.
