To report calls, just go to IRS.gov and fill out form. Do the same for US Treasury (treasury.gov) and Federal Trade Commission (ftc.gov). At least I feel like I am hitting back when I make these complaints.
Called repeatedly with recording that this was a call to prevent appearance before a judge or magistrate. When I called back, he identified himself as being from the IRS and his name was Steve Martin. I said I did not think I had any tax problems and he proceeded to lecture me on the seriousness of the call. When I told him I had reported this number to the IRS as a fraud call, the call disconnected. I have not been able to get the number to answer again - it always rings with a busy signal. Believe the same message was also sent from this number - 561-958-8817.
Got the same call. Heavy Indian accent, a recording, threatening indictments and jail time if I did not take it seriously. Said to press 1 for "legal info". I pressed 1 to tell him where to go, got disconnected. This is a SCAM!!!
As the other posters have reported, this is a dangerous scam. Even if the IRS would call instead of using the mail, no one from the IRS is going to use a robo calling system, obviously. And this call was DEFINITELY a robo one. I have two phone lines in my house with consecutive numbers. When they ring almost at the the same time I know the dialing was done by a machine.
Same as above. This one is a particularly nefarious scan as they are pretending to be the US Treasury (presumably the IRS). The IRS does not contact via the phone, and if they did, they would know my name or company name. The accent was Indian and the name given was "Steve Martin" (right!). I hope no one gets sucked into this one.
