I got a check in the mail from the "Areva Trust" claiming that I won a lottery and they enclosed a check for $1950.10 that looks real. The letter said I had to call a claim agent at this number to get the balance of $43,049.90. I'm thinking it's a total scam, and this is a long-distance number so I'm not calling it and definitely not cashing the check. No lottery would require you to do that (and...didn't enter a "lottery." BEWARE!!
Thanks for the heads up people.. I received a letter and a check the other day and the check was made out to me for $1,997 from a company called Informus. the check looked real and the letter was very well written out so I deposited the check into my bank today but I will not withdraw any of the $1,997 that I deposited. Now I know that it was all a scam. I should have done my research eariler before I deposited the check. Again thank you all for the heads up.
So what should I do if I have deposited the check....Because my roommate and I looked into this further and we couldn't find anything bad about them.....The check cleared and everything...
