Received a $3,820.00 check in the mail with "Secret Shopper" offer. I was supposed to take the check, cash it, then as my 1st "assignment" was to take the funds to Money Gram and wire $3,050.00 back to "Kaufman Consumer Security Group, 800 Niagara Avenue, Suite 1109, Niagara Falls, NY 14305-2540", Telephone 1-516-726-0466. I was also supposed to call my "Assigned Manager", Susan Olsen at 1-450-675-7881 to confirm. I called Chase Bank to confirm if the check was legitimate and suprisingly the Routing and Account Number were, but the check was from United Parcel Service and not Kaufman Consumer Security Group. I physically took the check into a Chase Branch where they confirmed that it was a SCAM. I left the check and supporting documents with an individual at the Chase Branch location. Just out of curiosity, I went ahead and faxed my "Acceptance Form" to Kaufman indicating that I had deposited their check, not expecting to be contacted...but several hours later I received a call from 1-450-675-8545 from a gentleman who was very excited to hear that the funds were deposited and available. I was given specific instructions to proceed to a Money Gram location and wire the funds to "Julie Summers" at the above address...but was also told that this was "very confidential" because I was "evaluating how the Money Gram employee handled the transaction". So, bottom line...THIS IS A VERY WELL PLANNED AND EXECUTED SCAM!!! They even have the www.surveyscout.com logo printed on the bottom of their correspondence.
