The guy above is right about opting out. It let's them know a person is there and you WILL get more calls and not from just them. They will sell your number to other Companies/marketers/ripoff agents. I mean I am Disabled and broke and got one about my loan on my home was in trouble! The list goes on. A list is what we are all on. The best thing to do is NOT answer and the robots will move on but sometime later they will return. There are Federal Laws about calling people on cell phones, especially collection agencies. If you are being harrased by one tell them about the 1991 Law forbidding their calls by telling them you forbid them to call you on your cell phone and are keeping records of them. They can be fined from $500 to $1,500 per call about collections. Tell them of the 11th circuit case, Osorio vs. State Farm Bank where that fine was imposed under the Telephone Protection Act that among other things, prohibit collectors from using automated dialing systems to call consumers on their cellphones without expressed permisssion. But they keep calling and don't care. Do a google search on that case and find out what you can do. Iwas called and threatened that he would turn me into collections and I said DO IT then, and hung up. He later called in a week and I said I told you to report me and turn me in to the reporting agencies. He very politely said "I can't do that sir", and tried another guilt trip. I said the court wants me to be able to eat first before paying your collections under threat, and he hasn't called back since.
