A man called me. He didn't speak English very well, and he did not identify himself- no name, no company... After he said a bunch of stuff I couldn't understand, I asked if there was someone else I could talk to. When he told me no, I knew something was up. He then proceeded to tell me (attempting to enunciate better) that he's been getting notifications frequently that my computer has a virus. Then I asked, "how do you have access to my computer if I don't have internet??!" To which he responded, "well, when was the last time you used your internet?" I told him, "it's been months. So how do you have access to my computer? Do you even know my name?!" And then he read my phone number to me. I said, "great! But do you know my name?" I think at that point, he realized he wasn't gonna get anything out of me, and he hung up.
I got the same type of call. When he said they had been getting error messages from my computer and it meant that virus' had gotten on it, I said "no it does not" and he argued that it did. I asked him what the number of my computer was, because every computer has an identifying number, he gave me a bunch of number and letters. I said "that's not my number" and he tried to argue about that. So irritating.
