FRAUD BEWARE!!! A woman claiming to be ASHLEY GRANT from the US GRANT DEPARTMENT called a family member in NC. She stated that my family member was approved for a TAX FREE $50,000 GRANT. She stated that in order to receive the grant they had to obtain her checking account number and bank information because they could not mail a check. THIS IS A FRAUD. I called the number on behalf of my family member and a man with a strong accent answered claiming to be from the same department. He refused to give me his name or location and refused to explain why the phone number and zip code (76022) provided belonged to different cities than HOUSTON, TX (the location were this agency is located according to ASHLEY GRANT). If you get a call like this report this fraud right away. Visit fraud.gov to put in a fraud report and put an alert on your social security to be safe. The caller had my family members current address, phone number and last 4 digits of her social. Never give out this information over the phone!!!
