Someone named Ryan Schneider called my place of employment asking to leave a message for my husband. He mentioned that he had a "case" on his desk that he would "release" if my husband didn't call him back. I asked if he had sent anything in writing to my husband on the matter and he said "it has gone way beyond that" and that the case would be released to court. I told him that I didn't think he had authority to send anything to court and that he was presenting himself as a lawyer and he immediately interrupted me with childish tactics. "Well, you go ahead and think that. Don't give him the message and we'll see what happens." And he hung up on me. Yeah, you're not legit.
He promptly called my cell phone - again leaving a message for my husband - to give him a call back on "an urgent legal matter". You can hear people in the background giving a similar story. The phone number is for Palmer, TX, but the phone number and stated company name does not appear on a google search. None of the verified Palmer, TX attorney collection agencies have 469 area code.
Foul him up by denying messages to get under his skin. "Ryan Schneider" might be thinking the right threat will scare you out of money, then suddenly he's unable to deliver anything. If you must answer, which isn't advisable, buy the act and start reading off numbers. Hang up before you're done so they might think they were cut off. Never answer again in any way or block the number to get them real mad.
...Looks like a fairly new number for this type of crime - the scary telephone call scam. If you want to just mess with a bad guy on the phone (and expose yourself to the possible consequences), this would be a good one. Otherwise, this kind of caller is best to ignore - don't answer, don't speak with them in the first place. Block the caller on your phone, if they keep ringing.
