He asked me for money saying that his Mom needed Chemo for her breast cancer... then he started 'trying' to mess with my head when I told him that I did not have the money.  He was all, "But what about all the great words we have spoken to each other?" blah blah.  I did some research and apparently this Nigerian romance scam is quite popular.  I would not like to see anyone getting ripped off... so heads up to all women talking to him.

Yeah, I got the same mom and breast cancer story.  I wouldn't send the $2500 he needed for his mom's medication, so he said he cashed in his return ticket back to the States.  He then asked me for $500 so he could send cocoa bean samples to his client so they would pay him and he could get back to me.  He started talking about how much he loved me and wanted to marry me.  All I could think was that we hadn't even met--this has to be unreal.  Obviously it was and thankfully I found out.  We started communicating thru Match, but his profile is now gone.  Either he removed it or someone reported him and Match removed it.

I got the same story... when I first caught on that he was working me, I tried to call him out on it and he gave me so many lines about how he could not wait for us to spend the rest of our lives together and I just had to be patient while he was going through such hard times.  The capper for me was when he let me talk to his 'son' and then he told me that his son prayed that we would all be together soon as a family.

I have called him out again and told him not to call me anymore via e-mail... but he is still leaving voice mails on my phone.  I got another one around six this morning.  I have been ignoring his calls for three days now and he still won't give up.  I am suspiscious that there is more than one person running this scam and they are not communicating with each other.  There were a couple of instances where the e-mails had a lot more mispellings than they normally do.  That suggests another person involved.

I am glad that we have figured this out.  I just wish there was a way toalert everyone else that he is scamming.

I did send him money so he could send the samples to his clients. I got the same story as both of you.  I talked to his son, Michael, as well. I did not figure out that he was lying until after I sent the money. I will be reporting him and his other numbers to the authorities.

I never spoke to his "son", but I got the same story about Michael praying about us becoming a family.  I also asked him to never contact me again, but got a call this morning around 6--which I ignored.  Very pushy and persistent despite all the times I have said no to his money request.  I wonder how many women they work at a time.  I know he/they are getting sloppy because he called me another woman's name in one email, and on several occasions said I wrote things to him that I know I never did. I tried to report him on Match, but his profile was already removed.  I wish these dating sites would make some disclaimer on their home page about Nigerian and Russian romance scams.  (Maybe they do and I just didn't notice it)
