I have/had a citifinancial loan, but when they were bought out or sold themselves to another angency they tried collecting the entire balance due on my loan. I called Citifinancial several times but always got some lame excuse from them about there system was not working or that they were only able to process payments and could not speak about current accounts. I received paperwork from the new company and was assured that my payments were still the same amount and that nothing had changed. I just received a letter and a call from Santander demanding full payment on the loan balance. I mailed my required loan payment to the new company as instructed but it seems that Citifinancial has not gotten all there paperwork inorder. I am choosing to ignore the collection since I made the payment.
If you do want to stop them from calling, next time one calls tell them you either want a payment arangement or in most cases since the collection company only gets paid if they get money for the account, they will be willing to take a lesser amount just to close the file.
Good luck, and if they say it will damage your credit report, well...who's isn't as this point.
This number is Santandar. They start calling the day your payment is due. I have never been more than 5 days late because I wait until my paycheck is in the bank before making my payment. Most times my payment has already been made on-line when they call. I tell them I made a payment on-line and they say they have 'no record of a payment'. Good thing I print the confirmation page and have the confirmation number.
They are VERY RUDE.
