Got my first call today. He had a foreign accent and said his name was John Matthews and he was with the US bureau of dept collection. Then later he was from the US Crime Investigation Bureau. He had my social security number and had me verify it. He told me i have 45 min to come up with over 2,000 or I would be hand cuffed and carted off to jail for 80 months by my local police. When I asked what for, he told me it was a debt of mine from a pay day loan from years ago. I knew I had no debt anywhere so at this point I played along to get more info. He said if I didnt have it by today we could make a payment plan but not before I worte a letter stating yes the debt was mine and I am willing to pay for it. So again playing along I said ok but what would the payments be? He says 500 every 10 to 14 days. He asked for my bank account number and of course I said no. Told him I didnt have one. So he told me to go to walmart and pick up a pre paid credit card. And to send him the number from it in no less that 30 min or the police would be here to get me and take me to jail. At this point I told him that I KNOW I have no debt and asked him when I should expect the police to be by my house. Thats when he got threatening and told me he knew where my family was and he was going to come to my door and all this other BS. So I asked for his manager. He put me on hold for like 10 sec and came back on claming to be a different person. It was the same guy. I hung the phone up and started to dial my local police. He was calling again before I could even hit enter to make my call. I just let the phone ring and serched the number on the internet. Thats how I found my way here. I turned in his name and number to my local police. The number comes from Colorado so I contacted them too.

He is a foreign guy from one of those countries ending in "an" and he tells me about a debt from a payday company that went to my bank. He has my account number routing number and the amount that is owed to settle out of court. They know that they are calling you at work and that you can't really tell them what you want to say. You basically have to keep repeating yourself and then they like to threaten you. I am convinced that it is the same person when he says that he is transferring you. I called the number back and a foreign guy answered the phone stating that this is US claim debt company. I am not sure what to do, I realize that I have a debt, but these people calling you on your job and making threats of court and jail is really extreme. Please advise.
Calling my job and home leaving messages upseting my family. They trying to settle debt over phone with no success. I advise them to submit bill showing debt owed and to whom. The company the mentioned I'm unfamiliar with.
I appreciate so much hearing your story about this guy... I have had the same experience, but mine was a little diffrent, in the fact I did apply for a payday loan 2 or 3years ago over the intranet then immedietly declined the application not completing all the info.. I heard nothing until several months ago i started getting calls similar to yours from guy with india accent. I talked to him once telling him I didnt go thru with a loan, he started threatening me along the same lines as your described, I hung up on him, and he continued to call several times. I blocked the 813# from my phone thru my cell service, but I am glad you listed the other, so I can block that as well. you are so right this is a scam, the guy needs to be caught or atleast exposed.
