Also, because the second group of three digits in the phone number reported on your caller ID is less than 200, the caller ID number is not a valid telephone number under the North American Numbering Plan. It is either being spoofed (i.e., faked, which is very easy to do) or it is coming from outside the North American Numbering Plan area and your phone either does not have enough digits to show the entire number or the fact that it is a foreign number.
Your contact information is gathered and published in global "whois" databases whenever you register a domain name. The only way to avoid this is to register for a domain proxy service (e.g., Domains by Proxy) at the same time you get or renew your domain name. Not all registrars offer this service, and according to the rules set up by each top level domain, some domain names CANNOT be set up with proxy registration. For example, you can register a ".com" domain by proxy, if that option is offered by the registrar of your domain. But you CANNOT register a ".us" domain by proxy at all.
Avoidance of domain name scams is one reason why you often see certain proxies show up as the responsible parties in "whois" searches.
