Yes, if you are the recipient of a bad check you file a complaint with the police. Some local governments have departments that specialize in dealing with bad checks. In most cases the police/sheriff will make an
investigation and make a recommendation to local prosecutors.
No debt collector would be involved.
In this case, Yoda is simply a shill for an illegal debt collection operation.
THese people are little better than extortionists.
I got a call from this number went to the d.A office in (lorrain county )and they told me there was a complaint there and i have to meet with the fraud unit check division i have no idea what they are talking about does anyone have any more info apparently these investigators were trying to reach me at a wrong address.....(deep sigh) anyone who has info please leave a comment ...Pleaseeeeee...I dont know what to do !
Total scam. Only public prosecutors file charges and that's only after a recommendation is made by members of law enforcement in your local area. If you were the subject of a criminal investigation you'd be well aware of it from face to face interviews with members of law enforcement. This is a debt collection scam. They are basically trying to scare money out of you. Don't fall for it.
Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.
Remember, being in ordinary civil debt is NOT a crime and you cannot be arrested for it. No debt collector has anything to
do with the criminal justice system.
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.
If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) The same goes for endless telephone harassment
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking), the only thing they understand.
Call from a variety of numbers and use different CIDs. Ignore and block any calls from these CIDs or IDs.

What you have to do is NOT talk to them and block their calls. This is a debt scamming operation. They are basically trying to scare money out of you. Worse , they are impersonating a public official. Being in ordinary civil debt is NOT a crime and you cannot be arrested for it. No debt collector has anything to do with the law enforcement system in any case.
