Talked to a friend of mine who is with the FBI, they are on their watch list. I never called them back. My daughter talked to them and they were really nasty to her.
Received a call from this # 475-200-0506 Wed. 23 Feb. 2017. Left message saying that a summons was going to be served at a place of employment or home. During the beginning of the message, a different voice said our son's name. He has never been here to this address. My wife and I just moved here last June. I am his P.O.A. and he is in another state and has no place of employment. They gave a claim number. After doing some research, I found it is from a debt collection company in Bridgeport, CN. What they do is they contact, in someway, County Courts and Finance companies and get information on court records of debts that have been settled for less than owed, debts written off for tax reasons and debts not collected that have a judgement recorded. They also buy old debts from finance companies for one cent on the dollar. Then they start looking for you by any means. In our son's situation, they got our number when my wife and I changed addresses. He had used us as a reference for a small loan in 2004 which was paid off but the company sold his loan to another company, which they do frequently and the records didn't follow. I remember this, it was a mess but it was straightened out with the original company. This company must have gotten this account from the original company. In any event these people are blood suckers and most of those who work for them are very nasty and rude people.Best way to handle these calls is to not answer or contact them. These debts, if legitimate, have gone past the legal time limit for them to collect in the first place. In most states, it is 10 years. They are the same as ambulance chasing attorneys looking for a quick buck. Hope this helps.
If you found out the name of this company, why did you fail to post it? I'm not sure where you got your information from, but you seem to have been misinformed. The best way to handle this is to send them either a certified, return receipt, "not me" letter, a cease and desist communicating letter, or in your son's case a debt validation letter (without knowing the particulars of your P.O.A, I'm not sure if you could send it on his behalf). Unless you live in Wisconsin or Mississippi, there is no "legal time limit for them to collect". There is a statute of limitations on how long they can SUE you. Very few states have a 10 year SOL. Now, perhaps you should take the time to read and learn, and while there report this debt collector as well:

Next day, 2nd Robo Call said: This message is for *pause* Xxxx *pause*. I am contacting you in to regards to a formal complaint that has been filed against you, as you need to verify current address as well as a place of business address to proceed against you, as this time you are forfeiting your right to take care of this matter outside of court.
Tried calling them back and no one answered. Left msg for them that I called the better business bureau. And attorney.
collection agency, dont erase the recording, call back pretending you want to discuss debt with them and get all their information and contact your attorney. They will settle for $20k every time without contesting you. I know how it works.
