This scam is using a MagicJack number that has not been assigned. MagicJack is responsible for the outbound calls from this number, call them at 1-800-604-6233 to file a COMPLAINT.
Claimed to be from Microsoft IT, and that malicious viruses were in my computer, and they wanted to help me. Tried to get me to install the AMMYY program, but I refused, several times told them that they were scammers. Hung up on them, and they called me back, at which point I kept them on the phone for nearly 30 mn so they wouldn't be calling a more gullible person.
Annoyed and concerned, as they claimed to have my computer IP address. That was disconcerting. and I'm sure many would believe them at that point. Glad I didn't.
Just got two calls in a row from these scammers. First call I turned on the scanner and answered, "North precinct; fraud division. Clearly state your name and company name for the record." Woman with a heavy Indian accent gave some phony name and said they were calling about my Windows computer. I said, "F^%^& you, scammer" and she hung up. About 2 minutes later the phone rang again, from the same faked caller-ID. Answered the same way, and this time a guy started talking about Windows. I asked, 'Why are you calling the police? What is your reason for calling the police about this?" He said something in (I believe) Hindi and hung up very quickly.
