I hit the block button as soon as I could. Looked up the number here. My caller id said Dollar Financial. Called the number back just to see what they say and the guy answered as Energy Education... I asked why the difference in caller id and he didn't know. Told him they were scamming people with the fake caller id. What is going on is Solar Leasing companies from California set up call centers in Arizona and are calling in support of their bought and paid for politicians who are running for the three open slots on the Arizona Corporation Commission. They want to prevent Arizona electric utilities from changing their rates to recover their actual costs of serving homes with leased solar arrays, because that would cut into the leasing companies' profits. Solar Leasing is an absolute rip-off of their customers. They make a fortune and you get pennies. Told him what I thought of them (not complimentary).
After multiple calls from "Dollar Financial" I finally picked it up to find out who was calling. They knew my husband's name. They were a company trying to convince me I could take advantage of unclaimed credits for the energy surcharges collected every month by my electric company. He was very persistent but it was never clear what they were trying to sell me (he insisted he wasn't selling anything but we all know that's not true). Kept wanting to know what I paid for my energy bill. Finally told him to stop calling and hung up.
