UPDATE: Man with an accent first requested an employee who is no longer here, then the IT manager. I asked if he were introducing his company, and he hung up. Any firm that trains its agents not to answer questions shouldn't be allowed to conduct business (the business of annoying legitimate concerns). Also any group that cannot teach its reps how to speak English distinctly!
This was the latest in a string of solicitations that my company received today from call centers with the same roots: 480-300-6051 / 7150 / 6043. The reps all claimed to be from Dell and wanted to send information to an IT manager. One said specifically that the employee had downloaded something from their website, so they were following up. Be advised that downloading anything sounds an alarm indicating a prospect for these telemarketers.
I work for an inbound #1800 call center. Just got a call from someone at this number. He had an accent of some sort and asked to speak to someone who is not in our staff directory. He then asked to speak to someone in IT. I asked some questions and he said it was regarding Windows Update Server. I asked if he was trying to sell us something and he said no. I told him our IT department is capable of running any updates that are needed. He thanked me and hung up. It was probably a scam.
Caller gives me a name to look for but I could not find them. He then ask to speak to the IT director which I told I would need a name. Then he hangs up.
