My fiance got a call from this number and as previously stated the person sounded like a babbling idiot and told my fiance that he owed money for a speeding ticket in AZ. from 1993. My fiance has never been to AZ.
These people have no brains....at all. Lady called me while she was driving and couldn't speak correctly. I called the number. A man equally unintelligent answered and could not tell me anything. All he would say was the company name, which was such ridiculousness I forgot it, and that they were a financial services company. Then demanded my phone number and was quite shocked when I told him know, so much so he hung up. If anyone else gets a call from this number, block it.
So I get a call from this number and some lady (sounded like she has the vocabulary of a 3rd grader) asked for some guy in a rude tone. I asked who is calling and she repeated, "Is Derek available?". I said, "I dont know a Derek but what company is this calling?". She then stated that since I dont know a Derek she will update the notes. I asked again what company she was from and she hung up. Clearly, this company has no idea of what customer service truly is. Completely unprofessional...
It seems to me that more and more of these "scammers" are becoming more brazen in an attempt to abscond money out of people. I wonder if this number is one of many from the same source and each number is randomly called by their system. Obviously, the Do No Call List is an absolute joke and these jerks know that so they take full advantage of the situation. Further, they also know that since they have numbers at their disposal, if challenged by the Feds they can always use another number without being caught. But, they are truly morons and I would be willing to bet they are from across the border and not necessarily Mexicans. Hondurus, Guatamala, Costa Rica and other sources of these calls may even come from the Middle East. Who knows! Who cares. Be assured, our government does not care in the least! I just do not answer them; period! Even though I have changed my home number three times in the past seven months and it is unlisted, that makes no difference. Century Link has no plausible answer to why this continues! Another exciting day!
Update: This is to let you know I have discovered who these people are in the last five minutes. They are debt collectors! I contacted them directly and asked them why are they constantly calling and they said; quote,"we are wanting you to pay a long overdue debt in the amount of $11 thousand!"! I asked them to whom do I owe this debt and they told me and I then informed them that MY name is not what you say and further I have no debt like and never did! I informed them in no uncertain terms if your company continues this daily barrage of calls, I will give this to attorney in Scottsdale, AZ and let him take care of you. The call came from a 480 prefix which is Phoenix! Below is the company name and phone number if you all are interested!
